Overall, PS2 games have been very disappointing. I just don't think the games put out for the system have lived up to the hype. Games that looked real hot from the beginning turn out to be shit and games that are too fast leaving you feeling cheated. But then I came upon Red Faction, a game that is well worth the money and the hype.

     Red Faction takes place on Mars. You are part of a group of miners revolting against your bosses. Unfortunately, it isn't an easy encounter and you have to shoot your way to freedom. You lead your man through level after level, that seem to connect with little load time at all, making for seamless action that never stops. Red Faction is just a great game with a great story that keeps you involved and makes you feel like you are part of the story.

     A story is only as good as the gameplay and that's what makes this game so great. It is very difficult to get used to the controls, but once you tweak the options to your liking, it gets easier. Also, it takes awhile to turn around and that annoyed me, but it didn't affect my game play that much. This game defines interactive. I can shoot anything and it will blow up. This Geo-Mod technology that allows everything on the screen to be a target kicks ass. You can also shoot the ceiling down around your attackers or blow up the ground and create an obstacle to get past. Imagine being able to blow up a wall and use that as your route to the next area, while the bad guys are waiting for you in the more traditional route. Well, in Red Faction you can and the bad guys will never know what hit them when you come up from behind and start mowing them down one by one.

     This game is just fantastic! There is no game like it on the market and it is the first game for the PS2 that looks great and plays great. The two-player death match mode is kick ass because of this technology.

     Badseed's Bottomline: 10 out of 10. This is the best game for the Playstation 2. It is very addictive and a whole lot of fun to play. I couldn't get enough of it and was totally enthralled by the characters, the cut scenes and this great new style of play that allowed me to forget about the door and blow up the wall. Yeah!! Be sure play the two-player mode for more exclusive levels. Finally, a game that cuts the mustard. I can't wait for the sequel. Listen to all the hype, buy into all the hoopla and get Red Faction today.
