Willa Ford is hoping that by the end of this summer her songs will be pumping from your beach radio. The aspiring diva's Willa Ford 'Ooh, Ooh' CD Sampler Copyright Atlantic Recordsnew CD Willa Was Here will be coming to the masses this July. The first single released in April 2001, I Wanna Be Bad, is a sexually charged pop song, that will put Ford on the map as a sex symbol if anything else. According to Ford, in her artist biography on the Atlantic Records website, "I'm not a cheerleader. I'm not trying to pretend to be sweet and then come out and be bad. This is who I am." But as to whether Ford can hold her own amongst the blond poptresses is one thing. And this fate was left for me alone to decide upon receiving Ford's CD sampler.

I obtained the sampler by pure chance, while surfing through on a very famous band's message board I happened upon a message offering (for FREE) the Willa Ford CD sampler. The first song, Ooh Ooh, for which the CD is named for, is a GREAT song, more R&B than pop, the track has a great beats, lyrics, and the hook is off the hook. It sounds like Ford will be singing Ooh Ooh, when this track hits number one. Perhaps it might even take the title as song of the summer?

Now, the three snippets that appear on the sampler did not move me as much, which included "I Wanna Be Bad". Don't get me wrong, I Wanna Be Bad is not a bad song, neither are the tracks, The Jokes on You and Prince Charming. The songs just sound similar to the pop songs that permeate the radio today. However, I can see these songs doing well with younger people. All of the songs have the new trend of pop and R&B that is prolific on the airwaves, and could help Ford develop a very strong young female following. My advice to Ford in order to differentiate herself should stick to the R&B sound, it could give her a wider age range of fans, especially older fans that are known to be more dedicated to their music tastes.

Overall, Ford has talent, despite what her critics say. And I will definitely pick up her album if the other songs sound anything like Ooh Ooh.
