Anti-Reality Spell: Though a sufficient Spell has been placed on this book, the witch that acts as webmaster has decided it necessary to place another spell just in case some of you Muggles still believe this game to be an actual form of entertainment.
Quidditch Through the Ages is a thorough piece on the most famous magic extra curricular activity. The book covers nearly a thousand years of history, including Quidditch's crude beginning in the marshes of Briton to the popular Quidditch World Cup games played today. Kennilworthy also took great care in showing not only how the game itself evolved but the evolution of the Quidditch equipment as well, including the very interesting birth of the Golden Snitch, which was based on an actual bird, nearly hunted to extinction by magic folk.
Kennilworthy also included an excellent section on Quidditch around the world, including information on the American version of the game called Quod. He also explores why the game has not caught on in eastern countries, and how different countries have played an important role in shaping the way Quidditch is played today.
Quidditch Through the Ages is not just an excellent insight on the magic community, it is a must have for fans of the game. I heartily encourage readers to read the forward written by the distinguished Headmaster of Britain's premiere magic school (Hogwarts School), Albus Dumbledore. An eloquent speaker, one can only benefit from his additional comments on the history of Quidditch, and fans of Puddlemere United will be glad to see that this distinguished gentleman took the time to give the team an honorable mention.
