Conspiracies have a way of never remaining inconspicuous indefinitely. Especially when the conspirators think they The Grays a Scene from Area 51 ALL RIGHTS RESERVEDhave the entire situation under control. Case in point, the infamous Area 51.

In the early 50s, aristocratic factions of the United States Government and the leaders of an extra-terrestrial species, known only as the Grays, enter into a military information exchange. This compact allowed the United States to gain military hegemony and the Grays to develop and test (on humans) a virus that would be eventually used to against the Grays' own enemies.

However, chaos reared its head when the virus escapes within Area 51. In time to save the day, an elite group of special forces named Team Bravo, is sent in to control the situation only to disappear without a trace. When the second group, Team Delta, enters to investigate the virus and search for the missing team they discover that their charge of protecting national security has nothing to do with protecting America's civil liberties.

Hazardous Materials specialists Ethan Cole (aptly voiced by David Duchovony), is a member of Team Delta, and lead character in this first person shooting game. Area 51 cleverly weaves conjecture, science fiction, militarization, and more than a fair share of proof of an intergalactic conspiracy.

Level by level Cole is forced to accept that The nerds were right. Cole learns the truth about Roswell Alien Crash, autopsies, and the possibility that Neil Armstrong's historical lunar landing was nothing more than a Cold War ruse to psyc out the Soviet Union! Oh, yeah he also has to deal with murderous Grays and human mutants infected by the virus.

Cole from the initial nanosecond of play finds himself in a dark and desperate environment. Characters move quick, making game play more than challenging. Enemies will have you nearly speaking in tongues as you try to out maneuver their attacks. Every hall and room regardless of how many times you play a level must be taken with the utmost caution. If more than three enemies approach just run, because if ammunition becomes depleted it takes a while to reload.

Game play for the most part is smooth and visually astounding with the exception that the Grays all look the same. Other than that the music is stimulating and listen out for Marilyn Manson, the voice of Edgar, one of the original aliens to crash at Area 51. This game is one that will keep you entertained for months!
