Sometimes your own parents will be your worst enemy. Shun Arima knows this all to well, constantly living in the shadow of his older brother Keiichi. Though the siblings are Cain and Shun embracing 'Golden Cain' ALL RIGHTS RESERVEDclose their parents doting on Keiichi results in a life of constant keep-up for Shun who persistently strives to live up to Keiichi's image. Shun's obsession becomes a disaster when an argument between he and Keiichi results a motor vehicle accident that leaves Keiichi in a coma. Shun's parents blame him for the accident and further distance themselves from him. Heartbroken and full of guilt Shun seeks comfort in the arms of a seedy underworld, where he meets his love, the international, tall, blonde, and incredibly beautiful Cain.

Half Vietnamese and American of the European extraction Cain saves Shun from the sordid sexual antics of a Satanic Cult. Forbidden desire, loss, and secrecy ensue in lovemaking that is vividly robust. Shun's undying need for emotional attention is fulfilled in Cain's romantic declaration Ngoi yeu dau cua toi (Vietnamese: My beautiful precious lover). However, when it is revealed that Cain is in Japan looking for his lover, Keiichi becomes the possible candidate placing Shun once more in his brother's shadow.

Golden Cain is a hot under the collar Boys Love manga that is full of romance, drama, and invigorating sex. The overall composition of the story was fast paced and the opening started off awkward, but by the second act the story leveled out resulting in an interesting story that is well worth the read.

Artistically manga-ka You Asagiri draws the reader in immediately with her striking shojo style and layouts, which portray the beautiful yet stark and sometimes seedy world where Shun lives. Readers beware and fans rejoice, for Asagiri's sexual romps are unrestrained but manage to portray the intimacy Cain and Shun have for one another without being tawdry.

For those looking for a little more Golden Cain there is a CD Drama version of the story with an original score distributed by Momo+Grape!
