The Aviator Original Score is dark and erratic. Exactly like the life of the movie's main character Aviation innovator, Hollywood Director, Producer, and notorious playboy Howard Hughes played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Academy Award Winning composer Howard Shore, famous for his triumphant and magical score for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, perfectly captures the period sounds that span the film's timeline from the late 20's to the 40's.
Building on the musical themes introduced in the introductory track Icarus, Shore captures Hughes dramatic rise to fame and fortune. From the light flutes of an innocent young man, the score gradually descended into violent thrashes on violin and bass relaying a constant state of anxiety.
The pinnacle track Long Beach Harbour 1947 masterfully blends dialogue from the film with a fine string undertones that solidifies the overall strength of the score while capturing the breadth of Hughes demise.
Finding Neverland, starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, is a fictional account about the life of legendary author J.M. Barrie, and events that influenced the story of Peter Pan.
The score composed by the world-renowned Polish composer Jan A.P. Kaczmaerk is a story in itself. The score begins with innocent first and second violins calling one another in a game of echo. As the album progresses the somber piano, played by the unbelievably talented Leszek Mozder, takes themes presented earlier on the soundtrack and masterfully reinterprets the entire mood of the score.
The concluding tracks reveal the masterminds of both Kaczmaerk and Mozder as there talents are fused together to reveal the fine line between joy and sadness leaving one certain Finding Neverland is a definite tearjerker.
