SkeetCover Art of 'Crunk Classics' ALL RIGHTS RESERVED Skeet Skeet Skeet-You've heard it on the radio. Legendary Crunk Producer/Performe Lil Jon (and to an extent, Dave Chappelle) made it famous and the craze seems to be sweeping the rap scene with various performers utilizing the popular genre to up their stock in the industry. But what exactly is Crunk anyway?

Crunk is a form of southern rap with its roots firmly planted in the Atlanta scene. A scene that is heavy on bass and chanting that will give the average Hip Hop listener a strange desire to mosh and just jump around. Basically, Crunk is Hip Hop's version of punk or hard rock. The Crunk rapper tends to yell very loudly into the mic, blasting out simplistic, but very loud lyrics that are often times forgettable. Forgettable because of the unforgettable hook, which is chanted loudly by a group of people over and over again in a very catchy tone that will make you involuntarily move that body on the dance floor. The hook is the most important part of the Crunk song; hence the line, "to the window, to the wall," in Lil Jon's Get Low.

Lately, Crunk has taken on a life of its own, that you can argue that there is even Crunk R&B with the success of Ciara, but the rap genre has exploded with Crunk taking over the clubs and giving Hip Hop fans a chance to just lose it on the dance floor and go crazy. Chances are most people have heard Crunk, but just didn't know that was what it was called as they chanted the words along with the song on the radio, but by taking a listen to Crunk Classics, the music listener will discover just how far back Crunk goes and just how good and infectious the style of music can be.

Crunk Classics features the greatest stars from the Crunk era, which on this CD contains songs dating back to 1993. Listeners will enjoy tracks from Three 6 Mafia, Trick Daddy, Trina, Chyna Whyte, Too Short, Pastor Troy, Drama, JT Money, Sole, Petey Pablo, and the Youndbloodz. Of course, no Crunk CD would be complete without a track from Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys; this one being the extremely catchy Bia' Bia'.

Most of the hot Crunk tracks from yesteryear worth listening to are on this CD, including the fun track by Trick Daddy, Trina and their pals, Shut Up. Iconz encouraging track Get F***ed Up is a perfect anthem for getting drunk and just enjoying the beats. Drama's Left Right Left is a blast from the past when no one really knew what Crunk was, as is JT Money's Who Dat. Raise Up by Petey Pablo encouraged a whole nation to wave their towels over their heads in the air like a helicopter.

You will be unable to get a lot of these songs out of your head and there is a significant chance that non-Hip Hop listeners will start to enjoy the songs due to genre's infectious style. You can forget about the possibility that too much Crunk may not be good for you. The more Crunk, the better; pop this CD in, let the music and anthems take over your body and get Crunked Up!
