I received Caught Inside with a copy of front man Jimmy Z’s bio, but Jimmy Z of the Z-Tribe is much more than just the front man.
It is the sum of its parts. Jimmy Z (lead vocals, harp, and tenor sax) has toured the world, recording with such artists as Etta James and the Eurythmics. He has also been approached by artists like Dr. Dre, Barry White, Ziggy Marley, Yes, Bon Jovi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Macy Gray, who were interested in spicing up their recordings after hearing Jimmy Z’s amazing musical talent.
Josh Sklair (guitar and vocals) has preformed / recorded with high ranking music-world stars such as Aretha Franklin, Bo Didley, Jeffrey Osborne, The Shirelles, Bonnie Raitt, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, Roy Orbison, and more.
Not to mention the amazing beats laid down by drummer Tom Fillman and the cool bass supplied by Rick Cortes.
Jimmy Z has an amazingly soulful voice which is perfectly suited for the blues genre. The lyrics are totally blues: I can hear my bumblebee buzzin’ / Sounds like she wanna buzz a little love song / I can hear my bumblebee buzzin’ / Sounds like she wanna buzz a little love song / Well, I’m the Honeyman, Honeyman / And a Honeyman wants his little bumblebee home. And that music – I have only one word for it – WOW! Soulful harmonica, jamming guitars, and a funky beat. Combine all of this with that soulful voice and you have a blues hit on your hands.
