Though I have not seen the movie Van Helsing, I can safely imagine it to be a suspense-filled, action-packed ride. Set in the late 19th Century, the movie introduces us to Gabriel Van Helsing, a famed monster hunter with a mysterious past. We join Van Helsing as he journeys to Transylvania, by order of a secret society, to rid the land of the famed vampire, Count Dracula.

The music on this soundtrack is composed and conducted by Academy Award nominee Alan Silvestri. In case you don’t recognize the name, Silvestri is the musical genius behind original scores found for motion pictures like Forrest Gump, Lilo & Stich, The Mummy Returns, both Tomb Raider movies, and Predator 1 and 2.

The Van Helsing Soundtrack is dark and foreboding at times, action-filled, fast-paced, and exciting at others. Much of the score reminds me of the huge orchestral numbers created by John Williams for the Star Wars films. This soundtrack in short is a thoroughly enjoyable musical experience from start to finish.

In addition to the enjoyable musical experience, buyers of this CD are treated to a few exciting extras. The CD jacket opens to a mini-poster of Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing, plus the CD is enhanced and offering an opportunity to preview the Van Helsing comic book, see the movie photo gallery, and check out the Van Helsing game trailer, along with some exclusive gaming clues!

The Van Helsing Soundtrack comes highly recommended. It’s one of the best musical scores I have listened to recently. Check it out! You won’t be disappointed!
