Ater popping this CD into the player, I was struck with the urge to examine the CD case. You see, hearing the title track of Amber G’s I Wanna Be had me thinking that I may have popped an old Debbie Gibson CD in the player by mistake. But once I continued to listen, I realized I was sorely mistaken.

Amber G sounds like a child. She’s supposed to sound like a 16 year old, but falls far from the mark. Well, I suppose she can’t actually fall. You see Amber is actually an A.I., created on November 16, 2000. Producer Grant Grueninger began working on a song in November of 2000. When he wanted to hear what the song would sound like, he began to piece together a vocal. This was how Amber was born. After having played it for some friends, they suggested that an entire album should be done this way.

Bad suggestion, Grant! Find better friends! Or a better A.I. program! This album is actually painful at points – most especially when Amber’s vocal pitch is put to the test on severely high notes. Ouch! The effect is a child, in sore need of a vocal coach, or an introduction to a dream besides that of becoming a singer.

The only thing I’m thankful for after listening to this CD is the fact that Amber is an A.I. I won’t have to dash the hopes of some 16-year-old kid with dreams of becoming a star! Skip the bargain bin – direct to the trash heap.
