All About Love is the second CD I have had the opportunity to review from R&B/Pop singer Christina Bulatao. Her first CD had me convinced that Bulatao had what it takes to make it in the mainstream urban pop market, and All About Love continues with that tradition, further proving Bulatao’s range and diversity as a singer.

Christina Bulatao, is the oldest of four children, was born and raised in South Dakota. She began her writing and recording career in 1994, shortly after meeting Chad Sharp, her future fiancée. Since then, Bulatao’s career has taken off. Besides releasing 3 successful CDs (All About Love marks her fourth CD release), she has performed at two Presidential rallies, was voted one of the Top Ten Outstanding South Dakotans, and has been featured on both radio and TV.

When asked about All About Love, Christina reveals that she wanted this CD to have a more laidback sound than that of her earlier CDs. She allowed events and circumstances in her everyday life to become inspiration for the songs she wrote. Bulatao also revealed that she tried something new with this CD, performing cover songs like Songbird, a song written by Christine McVie and featured on Fleetwood Mac’s CD Rumours. That song in particular was different for her in that it features Bulatao’s voice accompanied only by an acoustic guitar. It happens to be Christina Bulatao’s favorite track of the CD.

After listening to this CD, I can state I was a fan before, but now I am a devoted Bulatao fan! In my opinion, All About Love features some of her greatest work as a singer. Her beautiful, rich voice belts out ballads just as powerfully as the top divas out there in mainstream-land. Bulatao’s range of voice is amazing. My favorite tracks are Love, a sad ballad about love found and lost, and Weakness, an affirmation of what love is all about. Excerpt from Love: If it was me / I’d take you from the gloom outside / Never let you fall behind / If it was me / I’d take you from the tears and sorrow / Take you to the end of the rainbow / All I’d give you is love / Is love / All I’d show you is love / Is love. Chorus of Weakness: You are the one that makes me cry with happiness. / You are the light that helps me see that I’ve been blessed. / You are my friend when life gets hard. / I’ll always be there when you call. / You are my weakness.

I'm convinced that Bulatao has what it takes to make it to the top. All you mainstream radio stations out there, take my advice: Christina Bulatao is deserving of some major air time!!! Check out All About Love! Believe me, you won’t be disappointed!
