Allow Me to Prove my Point:

• Puff Daddy's first CD was great. His second, was barely worth listening to-Public Enemy #1? He may be, but not because he is successful, but because his second album was a huge rip-off.



• Jay-Z is a lyrical genius. He has talent oozing out of every bone in his body. Still, the guy can't be original to save his life. The Life and Times of Sean Carter, Volume 1, 2, 3, 4.? Most artists rap about their lives, but it would really suck if everyone titled their albums, The Life and Times of (insert artist here). And life must get worse everyday since Vol. 2 kicked so much ass, but all you can manage out of Vol. 3 was a song about "Big Pimpin'".



• Busta Rhymes faltered with his latest attempt, but he is allowed an off day since he was getting better from album to album before stumbling on the latest, Anarchy CD.



• DMX is worked too hard. The first CD was one of the best CDs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. The second CD was just as good, but took longer to get into. The third was choppy, and while it contained great songs, it did not live up to previous standards at all. Neither did Ruff Ryders Vol. 2 for that matter.



• Lil' Kim, Da Brat, Foxy Brown and Missy Elliot are just as guilty. And Li'l Kim has no excuse since she took forever to come out with a CD. Just horrible. No excuse at all. Thank God they are easy on the eyes-Yeah, even Missy.



• Even the greatest of all time can't cut it. LL Cool J has lost his touch. He's no longer the greatest of all time. He can tattoo himself with it, wear jackets saying it, make a song about it, and even title his own album with the saying. All that is subliminal, trying to fool us into believing it. Good actor, though. Not the greatest, but I like his films. Maybe he should stick with that instead.

Artists Schooling Artists

     There was a time when artists told a story or made you feel involved in what they were saying. They always had an interesting thing to say and always knew how to make a song itself catchy, not just have a catchy beat. These stars never had a hard time finding something to write about. They are the guys who listened to Run DMC and stars of the past and learned something from it.

     B.I.G. and Tupac never had this problem. And it seems like almost everyone connected with Dr. Dre, with the exception of Ice Cube, doesn't have this problem either. Dr. Dre took his time and The Chronic 2000 was as good as his first Chronic, if not better. Eminem's second CD blows away his first CD in terms of mood, beats and message. You can see the genius in Snoop with every CD. He hasn't changed his style at all. He's just the best damn dog in the doghouse.

Will New Artists Do Us Right

     Nelly has come out with a fantastic CD. Rah Diggah's CD packs a punch. Will their second be as good? Probably not. The industry rushes the talent, and the writing actually reflects this. Take a break. If the inspiration ain't there at the moment, wait until it is. And stay out of trouble until then so you can see the day of your second CD. You run out of rhymes, you run out of time. If your second CD sucks, because you rushed it, you can take all the time you want before the third CD, and no one will listen to it, no matter how good it is.

     The greatest rappers of all time know when to quit, know when to take a break. If I just bought your CD last week and you're out with another one today you can forget about me buying your next CD. Sorry, but my money is too precious to me and I all ready know it sucks. Give it a year and try again.
