Go Girl!

By: Cosmic Nerd Girl

This comic is a great comic book for little girls; it would make the perfect introduction piece for anyone interested in getting their little girl into reading comic books. No scantily clad women, just an average girl with super human powers and adventures involving her retired super heroine mom. What more could any parent want?

Go Girl! Is about a young girl named Lindsay Goldman, whose mom is the retired 70s super heroine, GoGo Girl. GoGo Girl does not really want her daughter to get into the super heroine business, seeing that it does not really pay well, and puts a strain on relationships (Apparently, Lindsay's father could not handle the fact that his wife could fly, and left them).

But fate and genes are stronger, and Lindsay is destined to pick up where her mom left off. Lindsay's friend Haseena Ross is kidnapped on her way home from an afternoon with Lindsay. A tip from a witness to the crime allows Lindsay to locate the kidnappers and save her friend. As Lindsay beats up the bad guys Haseena yells "Go Girl!" and thus Go Girl is born.

Like I said, this comic seems more for little girls and tweens than for more mature readers. It has great artwork. The ladies touch definitely sets this comic apart. Another cool thing about the comic is that some other artist's conceptions of Go Girl are included. This alone is worth the cost of the comic. The artists include legends such as Sergio Aragones; creator of Groo the Wander, Jim Robinson, creator of Evil and Malice, and Dan Parent of Archie Comics, also has a cool picture of Lindsay and her mom. Included in the artist mix is soon to be legend Lea Hernandez, creator of Rumble Girls (See Review in this issue of Rumble Girls) lends her manga style conception of Lindsay as well.

I have only had the pleasure of reading the first comic, which was released this past August. I am dying to know what other readers of the comic think! Please drop me a line and let me know what you think of the comic. Send comments and questions about this article to Cosmic Nerd Girl.
