The Buffy Boards

Slay This - The Buffy Boards - Copyright Warner Brothers ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

I've got an admission to make...read very carefully, because I don't plan to repeat this again. I am Justine Manzano and I am a Buff-a-holic. Anything related to the television series Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel make me squeal with something some like to call "geeker joy". Wait! What's this you say? You figured that out from my tribute to Buffy and my countless reviews of Angel novels...Damn...then that wasn't that big a revelation was it? Ok, well now that you know my deep dark secret, I want to share something with you readers out there. It's not really embarrassing to be absolutely addicted to a show. And I want to show you where I discovered this fact.

One day, after working late, I sat down to watch my tape of Angel. All of the Angel fans I know were asleep, and the episode had an awesome cliffhanger! I needed to share my theories as to what would come next with someone! Anyone! So I set out on a web search, and stumbled upon Buffy Boards. I didn't post there right away...I don't really always feel comfortable posting at a posting board and many of the ones I'd been on about these shows were loaded with people who did nothing but complain. I wanted a place where I could feel comfortable and share my love for the shows and its actors without feeling like I was being silly.

After scoping this place out for about a month, never posting anything but simply lurking and reading other people's posts, I was in love with the place. The show's official sites had nothing on Buffy Boards and the people there were very welcoming and helpful. The moderators ran the board fairly, and not like a group of Drill Sergeants like can happen on some boards. I registered with Buffy Boards in February of 2002 and since then I have garnered more than 1000 posts. I just can't stop going. The people are great! And there are so many different topics to discuss.

The boards have a forum for each season of both shows, which is great for fans like me who watch episodes over and over again. Shows like these have a great deal of detail and mythology and people can discuss their theories there. There is also a general posting board where people can talk about things that span the entire series, as well as an off topic board and two board RPG's (role-playing games, for those who don't know). There is also a forum for the budding artists out there, for Wallpaper, Fan fiction, and any other art inspired by these two shows.

The site can be viewed in many different color schemes that feature a different episode or character of the show. New features include a picture gallery where members share their pictures of the actors from the show, as well as a board chat room where members who've been getting to know each other via posts and private messaging can have a running discussion.

So, if you are a fan and you are reading this, pop on over and see if you like it. All in all, Buffy-Boards is a well-run, fun place to go to discuss Buffy and Angel, and to meet a great group of fun-loving people. Till' next time, I hope I see you on the boards.
