Once in a while, you run into such a horrible movie that it is actually worth seeing again and again. That is exactly how I felt about Zombi3. This movie was so bad it was good. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. Cover of Zombi3 Copyright Lucio Fulci and Media Blasters ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

The plot of this movie revolves around a group of terrorists who release a cloud of putrefying toxic waste, that causes the local population (birds included) to mutate into a mass of ferocious flesh chomping zombies. A group of young people (who else?) led by Kenny and Patricia are barricaded in a hotel and seek refuge at an abandoned military base. Of course this leads to calamity and poor choices that result in many deaths.

Forgetting the cheesiness, there were some cool scenes in the movie. I especially liked the nods to the Living Dead series and even Hitchcock’s The Birds. From talking zombies that can fight like Jackie Chan (not really) and even a head that flies you will laugh your behind off. Other strange footage includes men wearing bio suits shooting everyone in sight including the innocent people and fellow military men. Yes, the dialogue at times is downright cheesy (sometimes sounding like an ESL lesson), but the characters are actually cool and they make the movie fun.

This is definitely a movie you have to watch with friends. I saw it by myself, but when I watched it with a friend, a new episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 was created. There are not many movies that can be cult favorites, but Zombi3 is definetly a candidate. Let’s put it this way, Zombi3 inspired my friend to buy two more movie by Zombi3’s director Lucio Fulci. In parting I implore you take this wisdom, and pass it on...Zombi3 will make you laugh until you die....
