Playstation 2's arrival in America has been overshadowed by something smaller. A small company has made big waves for Sony and it's just because of a little software that allows you to play Playstation games on your Dreamcast. Sega's Dreamcast, Sony Playstation's main rival, will now get over 300 new games for its system thanks to bleem!
In the past, bleem! has released special software that allows consumers to play their Playstation games on their computers. The tremendous success of this software (over 300,000 copies being sold) led the company to create similar software to play Playstation games on your Dreamcast unit.
Simply take the bleem!Dreamcast disc into your Dreamcast system and close the lid. BLEEM! will load into the local memory and will tell you to insert a compatible Playstation title. You remove the bleem! disc, insert the Playstation game that you own or rent, close the lid and press the start button. What you will see next is tremendous! Dreamcast or BLEEMCAST actually enhances the game's graphics by doing three things.
Dreamcast, which has not supported nor gone against bleem! Dreamcast had just received a competitive advantage of sorts with bleem! Now Dreamcast can also play old Playstation games, which was an important advantage for the PS2. Now you can play Playstation games without owning a Playstation unit. It is easy to see why this is threatening to Sony but great for consumers!
A representative of bleem! says, "BLEEMCAST definitely gives the Dreamcast an advantage, but the fact that there are more titles available for the Dreamcast than before, is the real advantage."
BLEEM! representatives believe that Playstation has a monopoly on the gaming industry. They believe a combination of their software and Dreamcast's all ready impressive lineup will put Playstation, and Dreamcast on an even playing field.
