What can I say? The I-Con is simply the best convention I have ever
attended. Why? The individuals who put this event realize that fans of alternative entertainment properties like Anime, Video Games, RPG,
Fantasy, Science Fiction and such are not just fans of one of the areas , but usually more or all. The promoters of this convention truly have their pulse on the alternative entertainment markets and put together a nigh invulnerable line-up.
     This
year's convention was filled to the brim, and I don't care if you were there all three days, there was no way anyone could have taken in even one half of what they intended to do. This year's guests included an open Q&A session with Billy Boyd, Pippin, from the hit Fantasy feature The Lord of the Rings. The promoters also managed to also feature the hit movie along with other great alternative entertainment movies like J-Lo's The Cell, Wesley Snipes' Blade, and Disney's Monsters, Inc.
Other guests included Science Fiction TV stars and Anime Voice-Over Actors, two who have graced the virtual pages of YBFREE.com before: Lisa Ortiz and Mandy Bonhomme. Even music got its time to shine as several music acts appeared, along with Filk (science fiction influenced folk music) and even a panel on the hot but underatted topic Music and Math.
The panel topics selected for this year's convention were better (and probably more informative) than those I have attended in my years in the Non-Profit and Government Sectors:
And Of course anime was present, and actually had a larger role than last year! Check out YBFREE.com's reviews of some of the titles shown:

Gamers shouldn't feel left out, because from video games to Live Action
Role Playing on the grounds (yes, even in the mud) to the hallowed halls of Stony Brook University buildings, people got their game on from Board Games to Magic; Dungeons and Dragons 3E to Firestorm and Warlord.
And after all was said and done, I can only reiterate what I said about the 2001 I-Con. I wish I could have stayed longer and gone more than two days. And for the admission price one can't help but think they actually cheated the promoters, because participants get so much bang for their buck! I can honestly say that no convention that I have attended has been able to titillate my mind and wallet, like the little piece of heaven that comes to Earth for three days every Spring called the I-CON.
