Dimension Travelers

Jon Minners

Strange is the exact word that describes this film. The concept of other dimensions has always intrigued me. What if I didn't have a bad breakup with my ex-girlfriend? What happens if I wasn't such a geek in elementary school? What if I was born just two minutes later? There are endless possibilities and there could be worlds out there where those possibilities occurred. This is the exact idea that Dimension Travelers tackles.

The Dimension Travelers is based around Midori, a high school girl with a normal life, regular friends and a childhood friend who has a crush on her. Strange things begin to happen when a transfer student, Mayumi Iwase comes to school and voices her opinions about different dimensions. Suddenly, Midori finds herself experiencing strange dreams, that are actually trips to other dimensions.

Soon, Midori discovers that Mayumi is actually from another dimension, herself. This revelation awakens Midori to worlds she never knew existed and she starts traveling to different dimensions, herself. But things become extremely dangerous when Mayumi's presence in the same dimension as Midori is causing some sort of disturbance in the space time continuum. Suddenly, Midori's grandmother from another dimension follows her home and Midori finds herself being declared insane. Even a young man who committed suicide seems to have traveled to Midori's real dimension and is alive again. Midori through all of this struggles with the fact that she is actually a dimension traveler too, there may be no such thing as a real home for Midori and her friendship with other dimension travelers may actually be destroying the universe. She must go her own separate way to save the world she has lived in for so long.

This movie was well scripted. The actors had to work within a myriad of worlds and emotions and did a good job displaying bewilderment, sadness and an even better job of conveying those little things we do as friends. Dimension Travelers is an action, thought provoking, artsy piece, definitely worth the watch. I just have to ask that you watch the whole film to understand and experience what makes this film work. Escape your world and enjoy.
