This is a game about vampires, which will tell you right away that it kicks ass. I love vampires, so I am a little biased, but I am also a fan of the Legacy of Kain series that features
Kain and Soul Reaver. Taking place 200 years after the original 1986 Blood Omen, game and thousands of years before the Playstation and Dreamcast Soul Reaver hit, Blood Omen 2 starts off with Kain coming back from one of the toughest battles of his life. He is rather pissed and decides to use his fangs for some utter destruction. Unfortunately there is a group still looking to kill vampires and you have to stop them, even if it means sucking the blood out of each tasty morsel. He even has to watch out for his former blood-sucking buddies who decided to save themselves and joined the Buffy-wannabes. Each time he beats one of these Vampires, he gets back one of the dark gifts filled with Vampire goodness. And the story begins.
So, why does this game rule? Well, it's about vampires and although Kain looks like a bad guy in the Soul Reaver series, he's been handed a power that comes with some heavy disadvantages and the gift of immortality that can actually be a punishment. He has to do what he has to do to survive and you can't help but like a guy like that. Besides, in this game, he is defending his whole species and must do anything he can to survive. Playing as a vampire is just a lot of fun and being what is considered a bad guy is just too damn cool an opportunity to pass up. This game is fun and filled with a great storyline that will have you getting into character just a little too much.
T slow aspects kind of slow down the game and make it too repetitive. There are a few other problems including collision detection glitches and some unnecessary fights that will bore you. But in the end it is all worth it, because once you suck the blood of your first victim, you are hooked. However, if these glitches do upset you, I heard that the X-Box version is going to be way better and a lot more fun to play.
