Britney's Dance Beat

It seems that everywhere you look, there's Britney Spears, right there with you. Turn on MTV, and you see her latest video, watch the manly Britney being screened for the Game Copyright THQSuper Bowl and there she is in a commercial for Pepsi, open a magazine and her picture is on every three pages and now, when you go to the movies, she's there, too. Well, you better get used to it, because the Pop Princess is now making her way into your video game world. THQ has recently announced the video game known as Britney's Dance Beat.

"Since the 1999 release of her Baby One More Time album, Britney Spears has become a pop culture icon whose talent and style are coveted across the globe," stated Jeff Lapin, Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, THQ. "We are delighted to be working with Britney Brands in bringing one of the biggest names in entertainment to the PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance and PC."

Combining two of my favorite things, Britney Spears and a dance game similar to one of my personal favorites, Bust-A-Groove, Britney's Dance Beat looks to be a very promising game for any video gamer to enjoy. In search of dancers for her upcoming tour, Britney wants you to audition. Earn your place on stage by rhythmically pressing buttons to the beat of Britney's hit songs, showing off your hottest moves. The best part is, as you beat songs, you unlock exclusive Britney video footage and interviews. With a two-player mode, compete against your friends to see who's best at getting their groove on. Do you have the right moves to back up Britney? That's what THQ would like to know and what you need to find out. Yes, it is Britney, but this game looks to be a combination of great beats, cool moves and challenging game play, along with DVD exclusives that anyone can appreciate, even Britney-haters.

From A Scene from Britney's 'Dance Beat' Copyright THQwhat I am looking at, this game looks pretty cool. The graphics look perfect for the PS2 and the dancers look to move very well and while I haven't been given the opportunity to play the game, I am hoping that looks are not deceiving and this game turns out to be as hot as Britney herself. I enjoy these types of dancing games, from Bust-A-Groove to Space Channel 5, and now, with a character I know and cool music, too, this game has the ability to overtake both of them. Also, from the screenshots I have seen of the various stages, the backgrounds are very detailed and the characters look pretty good, ranging in terms of style, look and sex, as they move to the music and their surroundings.

Britney's Dance Beat features her new songs; I'm a Slave 4 U, Overprotected and classics like Baby One More Time, Oops! I did it Again and Stronger. As the music plays, you control whatever character you have chosen to dance along with a realistic 3D model of Britney herself. The game also features exclusive, never before seen, behind the scenes footage and concert video, including 360-degree immerse video that lets the gamer control the camera. Hell, you even get authentic choreography from Britney's upcoming tour.

"Britney's move into interactive entertainment is a natural extension for the Britney brand," stated Britney Spears Co-Manager Larry Rudolph, Rudolph & Beer, LLC. "The growth in the interactive category driven by new gaming technologies means fans can look forward to an ultra-realistic adventure through Britney's world."

Great graphics, great music, what looks to be interesting gameplay, and extras to keep you busy for a long time, plus Britney: I think she did it again.
